Read this book last week in about three days. I think every young Catholic girl thinks about what it would be like to be a nun when they’re little and in catechism. I know I did. The vow I’d have the most trouble with is obedience, which is also the one that Karol has difficulty with. Again and again she butts heads with the Mother Superior.

It was really interesting to see “behind the convent walls” as it were. Plus, with all the social changes that were happening in the sixties, Karol and her sisters were in a different mindset than many of the older nuns at the time.

One of my favorite characters was the old lady that Karol visits every week, Sister Concilio. This nun kept a bottle of Canadian Club whiskey in her closet, and let the good times roll. I would have liked to have been friends with her myself.

I showed this to Jon when it came, and he goes, “Wait. Aren’t the Kardashians a race on Star Trek?”

As I was checking out of the library, the woman at the desk was noting each book as she scanned it. Finally she looked at me and said, “Interesting stack.” I felt complimented. I love going to the library, being among so much information and potential for learning. It’s always been one of my favorite places to go and hunt and discover.

Not the most imaginative photo, but I was quite proud of my nails from the bout last night.

This is Riley. He had a scrotal hernia that we had to fix when he was seven weeks old. He’s probably the youngest patient I’ve seen have surgery at our hospital. We all felt so bad for him that people literally carried him around all day. This is him while he was recovering, snuggled in a towel.

This is Teddy. He has diabetes and comes to the hospital for blood glucose curves. He’s a lover so long as you’re not sticking his ear for a blood sample.

And this of course, is my pooch, Lucky. A face only a momma could love.
